About Japanese translation

Japanese combines three writing systems: kanji, hiragana and katakana. Japanese official documents often use the Japanese imperial era calendar.

We convert Japanese era dates (for example, Reiwa and Heisei) into Gregorian dates, and we translate Koseki family registers for visa and citizenship applications.

Common questions

Are your Japanese translations NAATI certified?
Yes. Your Japanese translation is completed by a NAATI certified translator and includes their stamp and certification number, which is what the Department of Home Affairs requires for translations made in Australia.
How much does Japanese translation cost?
Standard one-page documents such as licences and birth certificates have a fixed price. Longer or specialised documents are quoted per job. Send us your document and we'll confirm the exact price before we start.
Can you translate English documents into Japanese?
Yes. We translate in both directions: Japanese to English for use in Australia, and English to Japanese for use overseas or for Japanese-speaking audiences.
